A Jewish Agency spokesman has declared that the five Britons kidnapped last Tuesday near the Jerusalem electric power station are held on “very serious charges,” the nature of which he refrained from disclosing.
The spokesman further stated that negotiations were proceeding to hand the prisoners over to the Israelite defence army, and if the charges were substantiated they would be tried by an Israelite military court.
The men were kidnapped by members of Irgun Zvai Leumi, who asserted in Jerusalem that evidence had been found making out a prima facie case against them on charges of espionage.
