An appeal has been lodged to-day before the Israeli Supreme Court in Jerusalem against the conviction and sentences imposed by the Jerusalem district court on Mr. Frederick William Sylvester, an employee of the Jerusalem Electric and Public Service Corporation, on charges of “publishing information liable to be useful to the enemies of Israel with the intention of prejudicing the State and its interests.”

Mr. G. W. Sheringham, British assistant consul in Jerusalem, visited Mr. Sylvester in prison after the sentence had been passed and also conferred with counsel for the defence, Mr. Pinchas Rabionowitz* and Mr. Jacob Salomon.
