After negotiations between the Irgun Zvai Leumi and the Israel defence army (the Hagana), the Irgun on Friday surrendered the five British officials of the Jerusalem Electric and Public Service Corporation who had been kidnapped in Jerusalem 10 days ago. The Irgun announcement stated that the Hagana possessed further information relating to the charges against the five detained men, and that the Hagana had given assurances that the prisoners would be tried publicly on the suspicion of spying.
